New Peugeot 2008 Small Crossover Detailed in 47 High-Res Photos

Unknown

Eyeing the likes of the Nissan Juke and Opel/Vauxhall Mokka in the increasingly popular small crossover segment, Peugeot will be heading to the Geneva Motor Show next month to display its new 2008, before it launches the car in several regions around the world, including Europe, Asia and South America.
We received a first taste of the 208-based model in January with the release of the first photos, but the French carmaker is following up today with new images, videos and details, all of which can be found after the break.

Peugeot says the 2008 is its first vehicle to be designed, developed and engineered simultaneously in Europe, China and Latin America. It will also be built in factories located in each of these three regions (France, Brazil and China).

The five-door model is based on lengthened version of the 208 hatchback's platform and measures 4,160mm in length, which makes it 200mm longer than the 208 supermini and 20mm longer than the concept model of the same name from the 2012 Paris Auto Show.

Its exterior design is reminiscent of the 208, albeit with chunkier detailing, a higher ride and protective plastic moldings around the bumpers and side sills to justify its crossover character. Inside, the dashboard is borrowed from the supermini with Peugeot spicing up the trim detailing.

Power comes Peugeot's latest engines including a three-cylinder 1.2-liter petrol unit in 82PS (81hp), 110PS (108hp) and 130PS (128hp) versions, a 1.6-liter VTi petrol with 120PS (118hp), a 1.4-liter diesel rated at 68PS (67hp), and a 1.6-liter diesel available in 92PS (91hp) and 115PS (113hp) flavors.

European sales of the new 2008 will begin in early summer this year.
